The Sure Word for Today

Strong Marriage Foundations.

Key Bible Verse:
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:”
— Matthew 7:24

The Affirmation
Our marriage is built on Christ, wisdom, and obedience. We choose love, honour, patience, and truth daily, and our home stands strong through every season.

Strong Marriage Foundations. Part 7

The Sure Word Devotion
Day 7: Keep Building Together
A strong marriage is not completed in one moment. It is built daily through shared faith, repeated obedience, honest communication, patience, honour, and commitment. Every couple will face seasons that test their foundation. Pressure does not always destroy a marriage. Sometimes pressure reveals what still needs strengthening. When both husband and wife keep building together, weakness becomes an opportunity for growth.

Building together means you stop treating marriage as one person’s responsibility. It requires shared ownership. One person cannot carry the full weight of love, prayer, forgiveness, planning, communication, and change alone. Both must listen. Both must learn. Both must adjust. Both must protect the home. A strong foundation grows when husband and wife choose unity over pride and progress over blame.

Today, decide what you will keep building together. Choose one area of your marriage that needs attention and approach it as partners, not opponents. Pray together if possible. Discuss one improvement calmly. Celebrate one strength. Correct one weakness. Marriage becomes stronger when both people keep laying the right blocks daily. Keep building on Christ, and let your home stand firm through every season.

Connect: Your Challenge and Response
You may focus on what your spouse should change and ignore your own part. Respond by choosing shared responsibility today and building one area together with humility.

Extend: Faith in Action
Choose one marriage area to strengthen this week. Discuss it calmly, agree on one practical step, and commit to repeating that step for seven days.

Reflection and Application
What have we built well together?
What area needs strengthening now?
Where have I blamed instead of building?
What step can we agree on today?
How will we keep Christ at the centre?

Inspirational Quote by Jefferson Otonbara Imgbi
“Strong marriages are built by two willing hearts, not one tired effort. Keep building together on Christ, and every wise step will strengthen the home.”
