When to Seek Help. Part 4
The Sure Word Devotion
Day 4: Choose Safe Counsel
Not every voice should guide your recovery. Seeking help is wisdom, but choosing safe counsel is also wisdom. Safe counsel listens with respect, protects dignity, speaks truth with compassion, and guides you towards healthy support. Unsafe counsel may shame, dismiss, control, gossip, or make your struggle feel worse. Counsel should bring safety, not confusion.
Safe counsel can come from trusted family, mature friends, pastors, counsellors, therapists, doctors, or support services. The key is maturity, discretion, wisdom, and proper understanding. Some situations need professional support, especially when symptoms are persistent, intense, or affecting daily function. Faith does not reject wise counsel. Faith chooses help that protects life, strengthens stability, and supports recovery.
Today, review who you allow to speak into your mental health journey. Choose people who are safe, informed, and compassionate. Do not share deep struggles with people who mishandle trust. Ask God for discernment, then take one step towards safe support. Wise counsel can help you see clearly, respond early, and stay steady when pressure rises.
