Recognising Early Warning Signs. Part 1
The Sure Word Devotion
Day 1: Notice the Signs
Early warning signs are not enemies. They are signals that call for wisdom, attention, and timely response. Proverbs 27:12 teaches prudence, which means seeing danger early and taking protective action. Mental health distress rarely moves from calm to crisis without signals. There are usually changes in mood, sleep, appetite, energy, concentration, behaviour, or relationships. When you notice these signs early, you gain the opportunity to respond before the pressure becomes too heavy.
Many people ignore warning signs because they hope the issue will pass by itself. Others minimise symptoms because they do not want to appear weak or needy. That delay can make recovery harder. Wisdom does not wait for collapse. Wisdom observes, accepts, and acts. If your mind is becoming restless, your emotions are becoming unstable, or your habits are changing negatively, pay attention. These signs are information, not condemnation.
Today, choose awareness without fear. Notice what your mind, body, and behaviour are telling you. Write down one sign you have recently observed and ask what it may be pointing to. Then take one protective action. Pray, rest, reduce pressure, speak to a trusted person, or seek professional help if needed. Early action protects peace. Prudence is not panic. Prudence is wisdom in motion.
