Day 6: Speak Truth With Love
Truth is necessary in marriage, but truth must be carried with love. Some people use truth like a weapon, speaking harshly and then claiming they are only being honest. That does not build connection. A soft answer does not remove truth. It presents truth with wisdom, timing, patience, and honour. When truth is spoken with love, the heart is more likely to listen and respond.
Marriage suffers when important matters are hidden, but it also suffers when hard matters are spoken carelessly. Love does not stay silent while problems grow. Love also does not attack when correction is needed. Speaking truth with love means you name the issue without insulting your spouse. You explain the impact without exaggeration. You seek understanding instead of victory. You choose words that invite repair, not words that create more damage.
Today, speak truth with the goal of connection. Choose one matter that needs honesty and approach it calmly. Start with humility. Own your part where necessary. Use “I feel” and “I need” rather than accusation and blame. Give your spouse space to respond. Truth spoken with love can correct, heal, and strengthen unity. Let your words protect the marriage while addressing what must change.
