The Acronym EOYS stands for Eastern Oklahoma Youth Services. In this article, it stands for End-Of-Year-Syndrome. There are many reasons why you might feel EOYS, some are self-inflicted, and others are what it is. How you navigate during this period and overcome the effect of EOYS

is essential. There are many reasons why you feel this way, but in this article, I am particularly interested in one, which is the unachievable resolution you made on 1st January.

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. SAD is known as “winter depression” because the symptoms are usually more apparent and more severe during the winter.
Symptoms of SAD can include:

•    A persistent low mood;
•    A loss of pleasure or interest in normal activities;
•    Irritability;
•    Feelings of despair, guilt and worthlessness;
•    Feeling lethargic (lacking in energy) and sleepy during the day;
•    Sleeping for longer than normal and finding it hard to get up in the morning;
•    Craving carbohydrates and gaining weight. —Extract from NHS UK.

I want to apply the same symptoms for people suffering EOYS. Most people will attribute it to work stress. It is psychological, and I feel it is an analysis of their underachievement towards the end of the year.

I don’t subscribe to New Year’s resolutions. My life does not end on 31st December and restart on 1st January. It is one cycle. I have a plan to continue to improve the quality of my life every single moment. The moment the opportunity presents itself, I grab it. It is a continuous process, one I can never accomplish because I am always improving something in me, there is still an area to grow no matter what. So long as there are people better than me in my discipline, I must educate myself. The fact is, there will always be people that are better than me. I must embark on a journey to improve myself continuously. I cannot settle and assumed I had made it. I will celebrate milestones. I will continue to improve. I refused to settle for less. I have been through a lot to take things for granted. I must appreciate life and embrace the wisdom and secrets the universe is going to share with me.

In a few weeks, you will be writing out your new year’s resolution. It seems you refused to learn the lessons or maybe you are too naïve to notice what this is doing to your health, mind, and insanity. It brings a kind of guilt, one you cannot just shake off because it is in your subconscious. Guilt is a compelling emotion that can slow you and eventually kill you. Truth is you don’t just feel guilty alone. You feel shame as well. You feel guilty for something you didn’t do, but you want to – the New Year’s resolution. Because you are not satisfied with the fact you could not accomplish your desired New Year’s resolution, you feel shame. You judge yourself too harshly for the decision you made without adequate research, something vague that is difficult to achieve.

Rather than rushing forward in a panic to set resolutions or a list of goals for the next New Year’s Day, forget all that and enter the New Year in a mode of being present, and positive about the New Year. It has sadly allowed New Year’s resolutions imprison you. Stop trying to behave like everyone else. Cut your coat according to your cloth. Stop wearing oversized or undersized shoes; they will blister your feet. Recognise each day as an opportunity for a new beginning.

I make an explicit plan and not just a vague resolution — plans that I researched. I research everything in my life. I carry out a cost analysis as well. Last year I analysed our family expenditure, and it was massive. My wife asked if we need to cut down our bills. I looked at the spreadsheet in detail and informed her we need to increase our income. By July I started training that could see our income increase from between 350% to 700%. It took considerable research and analysis to get to this point where every detail was mined and scrutinised. It took the law of attraction to bring this kind of opportunity my way.

I put out a positive thought about my financial situation, and the universe delivers a solution to me. You need to be sure of what you want and when you do, don’t doubt yourself. You need to be clear so that the universe will deliver your desire to you. Send a picture of what you want to the universe through your thought. You must act, speak and think as if you are going to receive the gift now. You need to thank the universe in advance before you receive your desired package.

The law of attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. The law of attraction uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialise it into reality. All our thoughts somehow turn into tangible things eventually. Therefore, it is important to control what you think.

If you spend your time thinking about the negative, you will end up attracting negative events. If you focus on positive thoughts, you can attract positive events. Whether we realise it or not, we are responsible for bringing both positive and negative influences into our lives. A key part of the law of attraction is that where you place your focus can have an intense impact on what happens to you.

You attract the images you have created in your mind. You attract what you think about. The things you experience in your life are being summoned into your life through persistent thoughts. The law of attraction responds only to the thoughts and pictures in your mind. It doesn’t care whether you perceive something to be good or bad or whether you want it or you don’t. It simply responds to the signals or commands that you are sending out. Therefore, you must be aware and make it a duty to send out only signals that will improve the quality of your life. —Jefferson O Imgbi (Pg. 40 The Law of Attraction — 'The Power of Image Nation' published 6 January 2018).

The past has lots of information that will prepare you for the future. You need to analyse your past so that you can prepare for the future. There are beneficial data about you that need analysing to enable you to map out your life right now. You don’t have to wait for next year to start mapping out your life because your life is a cycle (the human life cycle). If you are now thinking of how to make your life better, it means you have approached another cycle in your life. You don’t have to wait for perfect conditions to act as there will never be an ideal condition. The universe is waiting to be attracted by your positive thoughts.  The universe is earnestly waiting to serve you because you are the master of the universe.
