The Sure Word for Today

Day 4: Overcoming Fear of Planning for the Future

Fear of the future often paralyses progress. Matthew 6:34 reminds, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.” This scripture does not discourage planning but warns against worry. Faithful planning is confidence in God’s provision, not anxiety about outcomes. The future belongs to those who prepare, not to those who panic.

Moses faced uncertainty when leading Israel out of Egypt, yet his faith gave him courage to plan the journey forward. Each step through the wilderness was a plan built on trust. Planning the future is not predicting it—it is preparing for it. Fear fades when faith leads the way.

Today, plan boldly. The same God who guided yesterday will secure your tomorrow.

Connect: Your Challenge and Response

You may fear planning ahead because of uncertainty or past disappointments. The right response is to trust that faith-backed preparation brings confidence and peace, not control.

Extend: Faith in Action

Take one area of your life that causes worry. Write a small, practical plan for it and commit that plan to God in prayer. Preparation replaces fear with focus.
