"The Abundance of the Free Favour of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19
Hi Visitor,
Forgiveness is a process, not a single moment. Matthew 18:21-22 reminds us that when Peter asked how often to forgive, Jesus answered, “Until seventy times seven.” This shows that forgiveness is a continual choice. It requires intention, practice, and patience. You do not wait for the feeling to come before you forgive. You choose, and the feelings follow over time.
Start by naming the hurt. Avoid denying or minimising it. Confess how it has affected you emotionally, mentally, and even physically. Next, make a conscious decision to release the offence. Speak it out loud or write it down: “I choose to forgive.” Then, pray for strength to continue releasing resentment whenever it tries to return. Forgiveness is like peeling an onion; sometimes, new layers of pain appear, and you must choose release again.
Finally, replace bitterness with blessings. Pray for those who hurt you, even if it feels hard. This does not mean excusing them. It means refusing to let their actions control your heart. Healing takes time, but every step of forgiveness is a step toward freedom and peace.
Think of a hurt that still has a hold on you. Imagine what your life would feel like without that weight. You deserve that lightness and freedom. Begin the steps today, not for them, but for your own future.
Scripture tells us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us. Stephen prayed for his attackers as he was stoned. This act of releasing and blessing brings supernatural peace and reflects the heart of Christ.
Write down one practical step you can take today to begin or continue your forgiveness journey. It might be a prayer, a conversation, or writing a letter you never sent. Commit to it as an act of faith.
"Forgiveness is not one big leap. It is a series of small, brave steps toward freedom and wholeness."
May God bless your heart with the strength to take each step of forgiveness with courage. May He guide your mind and heal your wounds layer by layer. Let each choice to release bring you closer to lasting peace and renewed joy. May His grace carry you every day forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
