"The Abundance of the Free Favour of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19
Hi Visitor,
Many struggle to forgive because they misunderstand what forgiveness truly means. Colossians 3:13 says, “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another… even as Christ forgave you.” Forgiveness is not saying what happened was right. It does not mean you forget the pain or remove all boundaries. Forgiveness is not instant trust or reconciliation. It is a personal decision to release resentment and cancel the debt of offence for your peace.
Forgiveness does not require you to stay close to those who hurt you. It does not mean you deny justice or ignore wisdom. It is about freeing your heart from the grip of bitterness. Many refuse to forgive because they think it means welcoming back harmful people or acting as if nothing happened. In truth, forgiveness is about healing, not forgetting. It is about moving forward without the poison of past pain.
Reflect today on what forgiveness is in your life. Have you been hesitant to forgive because you believed it meant you had to reconcile or trust again? Clarity brings freedom. When you understand what forgiveness truly is, you can walk in it confidently, protecting both your peace and your purpose.
Think about a situation where you thought forgiving meant losing your voice or compromising your safety. That belief may have kept you stuck. True forgiveness releases bitterness but maintains wisdom. You can forgive and still set healthy boundaries.
Scripture shows us that Jesus forgave freely, but He also walked away from places where hearts were hard. Paul forgave Mark but took time before trusting him again in ministry. These examples remind us that forgiveness and wisdom work together.
Write down any false beliefs you have held about forgiveness. Then write, “I choose true forgiveness without losing my boundaries.” Reflect on how this changes your approach to past hurts.
"Forgiveness frees your heart, but it does not erase your wisdom. Release the pain and keep your peace."
May God bless your heart with the clarity to understand forgiveness in its true form. May He help you release resentment without losing discernment. Let your spirit be filled with grace, strength, and wisdom as you walk forward in peace and freedom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
